mickyatch 37
Around me local patch there is a few foxes .... but i am struggling to find earth upto date i know of one .... and a large drain which would be to risky to enter a terrier and there is no second entrance and it looks as if it split all over the place and could be over 1000 yards in length ... i was wondering if dropping artificals in strategic spots might tempt foxes in ... obviously it would take one or two seasons for foxes to find them etc but what are your thourght and has any one got any pctures of artificals theyve built or any tips FTB ... all the best lads Quote Link to post
Reddog83 4
I've seen a few man made earths what hold foxes . Make a narrow trench with a sleeping compartment and a stopend block the earth from falling in to your tube with wood or stone and cover it with earth then put some cover on the top spend 10 mins making it look natural around the entrance and put bait in to the tube to help them find it these earths are perfect for lads with limited permission or with foxes in un diggable earths to entice them to yours with food ....... Make it soon and you might lucky Quote Link to post

Jonathan Booth France 5
In November my Dad and I went to deliver a couple of Patterdale Puppies to Germany and as we were also invited for the weekend and a bit of terrier work with Rudi Schwab and his friend's. Their ground is manly rocky and difficult for natural earths so they came up with the idea of artifitial earths and placed them in several dry area's buried aprox a meter deep they are fiberglass arches and a chamber with an entrance and exsit rejoining the entrance pipe they trench dig them in with a friends mini digger place galvanised mesh on the soil base and pin down the arches conecting them together for a size required , The entrance where possible is normaly south or south east faceing ,They are very sucessesfull for a handy bolt and a little shooting. To entice foxes in they throw in a hand full of grain as far as possible into the entrance which of course atracts mice etc: Foxes prefered prey!. Since they placed around a dozen of the earths on their permissioned land they rarely fail (they were also sucessful one Fox out of aprox every two earths tried when we visited) a Change from are normal digging but a great crack .in Sport Jonathan Booth France .PS (I am stuggling to put up a picture of the Fiber-Glass arches and chamber they use but I shall try and add it later) Hope this helps! welshhound2 20
very posh jb but a 9inch ribbed drainage pipe used for french drains ect and a ply box dose the same job and costs less in price have used these on numerous occasions and very productive Quote Link to post
